“The site had a number of challenges – so the clever use of space and design was key,” says Director Don Cotterill. Having acquired the 638sqm corner block in December 2018, Cotterill and his team began the initial planning with Architect Paul Uhlmann to reimagine the site and to deliver a truly sensational urban oasis – Corner House.

Corner House features two floors of sundrenched living space with four bespoke bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, expansive kitchen and entertaining areas, resort-style swimming pool with a built-in water cabana, as well as an adjoining fully-contained living or work space – all under the one roof.

“We were contending with not only the position on a busy intersection and the subsequent road noise but also the unusual triangular shape of the block which backed onto a narrow canal frontage. Unlike other locales, the property did not have an appealing outlook – so I needed to create one.” An impressive two-storey, landscaped courtyard/atrium lies at the centre of the 412sqm home. This dreamy light-filled space creates a pristine vista enjoyed from all areas of the house whilst maximising family privacy.

“For us, The Corner House is an important showcase of what Sanctuary 28 can deliver for a bespoke residential home on the Gold Coast,” says Cotterill. “The city is maturing, so must our creativity around functional family homes that can both accommodate the rise of multi-generational living and work-from-home arrangements but also the importance of finding peace and privacy from our increasingly busy lives.”
