Home renovation specialists Aaron and Daniella Winter are selling the family home that saw them crowned House Rules champions. The Gold Coast couple, who won the renovation competition in 2017, have placed their Summerland Key, Broadbeach Waters property on the market as they prepare to expand the ‘house flipping’ business that was born out of their reality TV success. Mr and Mrs Winter founded HYPE Build + Design in the wake of the televised makeover of the four-bedroom, two-bathroom house that “changed our lives forever”.
“We had a 10-year plan when we bought the property in late 2016 but then life did a 360-degree turn,” said Mrs Winter, who has two young children with her builder husband. “We were going to renovate the house ourselves and make it our family home for at least 10 years. I was pregnant with our second child and then within three months of moving in, we were filming the show.
“Aaron was always confident with his ability, but I wasn’t familiar with that world at all. As a performer I knew about movement and colour, but I didn’t know one thing about construction, styling and building.”
Situated on 556sq m at Broadbeach Waters, the single-storey designer home with lockable double garage is an entertainer’s paradise featuring open-plan living and stylish features throughout. Having boasted a tropical oasis feel, the couple has reinvented the property into a Palm Springs style and added a firepit, yellow and white awning blind and 24m wallpaper along the canal-side wall. A feature wall has brought new life to the guest bedroom, while the interior has benefited from collaborations with brands such as Pillow Talk.
“Since launching HYPE Build + Design, we have flipped many properties and are now ready to expand interstate and potentially overseas,” Mrs Winter said. “The Gold Coast will always be our home, but the time is right to sell as we want to pursue other opportunities, including working on our own home from scratch. We get such a buzz out of turning properties around and this is just the next step in our flipping career.”
