Located in the ‘Golden Triangle’ of the Hamilton and Ascot area this tightly held Queenslander offers peaceful seclusion from the high energy hustle and bustle of Brisbane city.

First built in the 1920s, the renovated ‘Shalimar’ has only ever had three owners, including the current owners, Brad and Andrea Emmerson who have held the property for close to two decades. Current owner Brad Emmerson says one owner held the property for nearly a century.  “One family lived here for 70 years, before selling to a buyer who only owned it for six months before we purchased the home,” he said. “We completed a total renovation but it essentially still looks like the original house.”

When renovating the property the Emmerson family made significant changes including raising the home, building a third level to create room for the home theatre, four car garage, gym, and wine cellar.

With the renovation taking around a year to complete, the couple lived onsite with a small child and a baby on the way.  Mr Emmerson says the couple made sure the renovation made home family friendly. “Everything we did during the renovation focused on making the home family-friendly,” Mr Emmerson said. “My wife was very big on the kitchen and family area, backyard, pool and office. You can see everything from the kitchen sink which is important with children.”

The home features five spacious bedrooms in addition to multiple living and entertaining areas set out across 660 square metres.

With a layout fit for any lifestyle, its grand scale does not compromise on functionality with a seamless integration  of indoor and outdoor living. The kitchen, large deck, tree-framed backyard, and pool blend seem to blend effortlessly into one. A master retreat occupies the whole top floor with ensuite, dual walk-in robes, a separate living room, fireplace, and private deck.

The north-facing property is just five kilometres from Brisbane’s city centre, and just  nine kilometres from Brisbane Airport
